How PRP Hair Loss Treatments Work
During PRP hair loss treatments in our Orlando Medical Spa, a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, just like a simple blood test. A centrifuge is then used to spin the blood and separate out the plasma from the red and white blood cells. The clear plasma is made up of platelets that contain healing proteins called “growth factors.”
Once the platelets are isolated, the growth factor is up to 8 times more concentrated than in regular blood. The concentrated plasma – rich in these natural growth factors – is then injected into the scalp areas where there is hair loss. This naturally stimulates dormant hair follicles to start actively producing hair again!
PRP is a highly effective hair loss treatment for “androgenic alopecia” or “male pattern baldness” – which is the most common type of hair loss in both men and women. PRP hair loss treatment also treats hair loss due to “telogen effluvium” (TE) – which can result from pregnancy, blood loss, heavy metal poisoning, and certain medications.
Most patients at our Orlando area Medical Spa require three initial PRP Hair Loss Treatments, spaced one month apart. Maintenance PRP Hair Loss Treatments every six months can help support continued hair restoration. Most PRP Hair Loss Treatment patients start seeing hair regrowth within a week – with fuller, fantastic results somewhere between 3 to 6 months – but results will vary for each patient.
